American English vs British English

Lots of people around the world, including native speakers, have issues with spelling. In most cases it’s missing, adding, or changing a letter. For some words this is not the case, someone may tell you that you have misspelled a word when, in fact, it’s correct - just spelled in English from another country.

To all students, especially those whose English is not your first language this week’s tip is to recognize/recognise that you can spell in American English or in British English. When you are writing, make sure your spelling is the same form throughout your essay. It's also a good idea to match your spelling to the school; applications for American schools, especially, should use American English. Don’t jump around with different styles of spelling, however - it does not make your admissions essay look good, and makes you seem unaware of the difference.
